Classic Chocolate Chip  Cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons real vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Cream together the butter, sugars and vanilla until they are well blended. Add the eggs, beating thoroughly.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt and baking soda. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and blend until the dough is completely mixed. Add chocolate chips and stir them into the dough.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a baking sheet, at least an inch apart.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12 - 13 minutes until they are light golden at their edges.
